"We discovered these lockets and the red trimming in the basement of an old belt and buckle factory in Brooklyn. The factory became The Invisible Dog Art Center and they donated material that has fueled our work for about a decade. We love the Center and the materials (and our lives!) and so we turned these little lockets into love lockets."
New York-based artists and brothers Steven and William Ladd have collaborated on artworks ranging from the minuscule to the massive for over two decades. Early works of haute-couture handbags and jewelry inspired their signature boxes that became towers, sparking performances that later evolved into large installations. Their artwork is often intricately crafted of textiles and beadwork and incorporates stories of their childhood and journey through life.
