Lobdell finds forms for topics that go unseen. She creates objects that speak to our fears, curiosities, and possibilities; engaging with craft as a tool to span time.
Jo Lobdell received an MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art, a BFA from Lesley University, and an AAS in graphic design from Parsons School of Design. She is a partner in Matter Design, a collaborative studio practice that challenges the default behaviors of contemporary society through its interdisciplinary creative practice, with work featured in Wasserman Projects' Fall 2022 exhibition, Ancient Entanglements. Jo Lobdell's work with Matter Design has been exhibited at MoMA PS1 and has won several awards for its socially charged projects.
