Mark's studio practice tests the nature of our material vernacular and its cross sections with craft, manufacturing, anthropology, domesticity, and operational landscapes. As populations have swelled and technologies have grown in sophistication, our material world has become deeply intertwined with the logistics of geography, economics, and production. It seems as though we are now unable to withdraw themselves from the global systems of food, water, transportation, energy, and waste required for our survival. The relationships between these systems shape the built environment in powerful ways, radically altering our world and how we inhabit it. To explore these ideas, Mark's practice both observes and resituates the artifacts of these systems.
