Josh Bolin lives in Modesto, California. A painter and musician, his work is about depression, happiness, rock n roll, mental illness, drugs, Satan, empathy, tropical melancholia, sickness, humor, paranormal, ufos, witches, cartoons, nostalgia, slackerism, and burnout.
A selection of Bolin's work was featured in Portray, a group exhibition at Wasserman Projects in the winter of 2019 that brought together artists working in a wide range of media – painting, photography, sculpture and video. The work featured in Portray combines the classical with the contemporary through inventive approaches to material, playful juxtapositions, and a twist on traditional portraiture.
