I am the daughter of Claire Alexia Walls and the granddaughter of Catherine H. C. Tarver and Grace Walls. I am the grand-niece of Geraldine Graves, Gertrude Graves, Diane Graves, and Rose Marie Graves, and the great-granddaughter of Nanette Walls, Rose Frances Johnson, Mildred Hackett, and Jennie Walker Banks.
Walker Walls Tarver (b. 1995) is a visual artist based between New York, NY, and Detroit, MI where she is pursuing her MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Art. She paints to process the “in-between”s and “empty” stages she finds herself occupying on the daily while navigating questions of performance, inheritance, access, and belonging as a white-passing black woman in the where and when of now.
